EMT -D and EMR -D Course

Learn how to be prepared and act confidently with the knowledge and skills necessary to deal with any diving based medical emergency.

The EMT - D Course is designed for all certified EMTs.

The EMR-D course is designed for all certified EMRs

(NON-US Medical personal may also take this course) If you do not have a medical qualification we suggest you take the Diver Emergency Responder course that starts on the 19th March to 23rd March 2017 at the same location.

 

The EMT -D/ EMR-D course is field based only. We want you to put all of your skills learned as an EMT/EMR to be able to tackle any Diving Emergency and feel confident you did everything you could to help. We have a very busy schedule and you will be expected to do a number of real-life scenarios through the 2 days. This is the perfect course for those of you who may attend a Scuba Diving injury along the coast or at an inland Dive Site or even in your Emergency Department.

We have a New Jersey state registered physician who is our Medical Director for this course.

What certificate will I get? The Diver Medic brings you this amazing course. You will receive a wall and card certificate valid for two years. EMT's will receive the EMT - D Certification and EMR's will Recieve a EMR-D Certification.

How much is the course? The cost of the course is $270.00 (BTS Special - Normally $350.00). You will receive a handout and wall certificate and certification card.

Diver Emergency Medical Responder Course, New Jersey USA (5 day course)

 

Learn how to be prepared and act confidently with the knowledge and skills necessary to deal with any diving based medical emergency.

So what is this course? The Diver Emergency Medical Responder Course is a course designed for Dive Leaders, Dive Instructors, Scientific Divers, Police, Fire and Public Safety Divers.

 

The course is of an Advanced Level of First Aid. We want you to put all of your skills learned in the 5 days to be able to tackle any Diving Emergency and feel confident you did everything you could to help. We have a very busy schedule and you will be expected to do a number of real-life scenarios through the course, so a lot of hands on.

What are the Pre-requisites to do the course:

Having learned CPR and First aid in the past would be of an advantage, however you will learn everything you need to during the course. You must be of good health and able to do a lot of moving and handling of people.

Do I have to be an EMT/Paramedic to do the course? No not at all. We do not teach invasive procedures on this course and it is a field based course not a Hyperbaric course.

Subjects covered in the 5 day course:

Role and Responsibility of a Diver Responder, Incident Assessment, Patient Assessment, Airway Assessment,

Oxygen Administration, CPR and AED, Breathing Difficulties, Anaphylaxis, Diabetes, Head Injuries, Seizures

Heart Conditions, Vital Signs, Management of minor and catastrophic bleeding, Poisoning

Burns and scalds, Environmental Exposures, Drowning, Muscular-skeletal trauma, Diving Physics

Decompression Sickness, Gas Toxicity, Ear Injuries and use of Otoscope, Lung Injuries, Marine Life Injuries.

This course is more advanced than the DAN DEMP course.

 

What certificate will I get? The Diver Medic brings you this amazing course. You will receive a wall certificate valid for two years.

How much is the course? The cost of the course is $550.00 (BTS Special - Normally $750.00). You will receive a handbook, student kit and wall certificate and certification card.

Extra option - If you would like a seperate certification card for CPR Provider and Oxygen Administration Provider, we can provide you with the certifications at a cost of $25.00 per certification.
